ABOUT US

Wilhelmsen Ahrenkiel Ship Management is a ship manager based in Hamburg, Germany, with entities in Rhoon, the Netherlands and Singapore. We are proud to be entrusted with the management of container vessels, tanker, bulk carriers, multi-purpose and heavy-lift vessels.

Our shareholders are the globally operating Wilhelmsen Group and MPC Capital AG. We offer our clients commercial asset and ship management.

Integration of Zeaborn Ship Management

In 2024 Zeaborn Ship Management has been acquired to strengthen the leading competence center for third-party ship management in Hamburg. End of 2024 the Zeaborn Hamburg team moved into the Wilhelmsen Ahrenkiel Ship Management premises. A relaunch of the Wilhelmsen Ahrenkiel Ship Management Website will be published in Q2/2025.

MANAGEMENT TEAM

DR MICHAEL SILIES

Managing Director

Dr. Michael Silies studied in Münster, Oxford and Göttingen. He has been with MPC Capital since 2003 in various management positions with a focus on shipping. Dr. Silies was appointed CEO of Ahrenkiel Steamship in spring 2015 and also holds this position in the new joint venture Wilhelmsen Ahrenkiel Ship Management.

Michael Brandhoff

Managing Director

Michael Brandhoff was appointed Managing Director in 2024 bringing with him a wealth of more than 25 years shipping experience. Starting his seagoing career with Hapag Lloyd and Hamburg Süd, followed by positions as technical director and managing director at Reederei Hamburger Lloyd and Hamburger Lloyd Tanker and managing director and chief executive officer for Zeaborn Ship Management, Michael has extensive knowledge of tanker, container and bulk management.

JAN-ERIC PANITZKI

General Manager

Jan-Eric Panitzki holds a master's certificate and has been working in the shipping industry since 1984. After holding management positions in several shipping companies, he joined Ahrenkiel Steamship as COO in April 2015. In the new joint venture Wilhelmsen Ahrenkiel Ship Management he also took over the position of COO.

Carlé Olivier

Finance Director

Carlé Olivier studied Financial Accounting and is registered on the Board of Chartered Accountants in South Africa. After starting her career in KPMG as an external auditor, she joined Ahrenkiel Steamship in 2019 in the vessel controlling department. Since joining, she has also held various positions in Corporate Finance and was appointed as Finance Director in July 2024.
