Following the christening, NCL NORDLAND set sail for the North Sea, where it will operate on a Green Corridor between Norway, Germany, and the Netherlands under charter for North Sea Container Line. This route underscores the industry’s commitment to sustainable logistics and innovation.
As MPC Container Ships CEO Constantin Baack emphasized:
“This is not just a christening, but a milestone on the path to a green transformation of the fleet.”
Adding to this, Dr Michael Silies, Managing Director at Wilhelmsen Ahrenkiel, stated:
“The NCL NORDLAND is a clear example of how collaboration and innovation can drive real change in our industry. At Wilhelmsen Ahrenkiel, we are proud to manage a vessel that not only meets today’s operational needs but also sets a benchmark for sustainable shipping. For North Sea Container Line, this marks a significant upgrade to their long-standing service between Norway and continental Europe. CEO Bente Hetland highlighted that the NCL NORDLAND and its sister ship NCL Vestland will form the backbone of this service, proving that the green transformation is not just possible – it’s already happening.
